What it is

One coach for the whole family — built on covenant grace.

Hesed.love is a paid, faith-default coaching app. It's not a chatbot. It's the digital corner of the kitchen table where every member of a family — parent and child — gets a calm, well-informed, scripture-anchored thinking partner. The Coach helps with homework, the speech a teen has to give next Tuesday, the conversation a child needs to have with a friend, the morning declaration over a kid's day, the journal entry that takes a year to write.

For parents

Your own coach for marriage, work, formation. Plus the tools to shape your child's coach — daily scriptures you choose, "From Dad/Mum" notes in your real voice, counsel pinned to each track. You're the parent. The Coach is the supporting cast.

For children with devices

A full coach of their own — homework, goals, speech drafts, athletic logs, faith declarations — under the rails their parents set at onboarding. Private by default. Their journal is theirs. Their coach is theirs. Their parent is still their parent.

For children without devices

Audio voice notes, blessing cards, calendar events with audio — all generated by the parent through the Coach, delivered to a kid's iPad, the family fridge, or a phone they share with you. The kid never installs anything. The voice is yours.

The voice

Your real voice. Trained once. Spoken daily.

The Coach can read its replies aloud in a clone of your voice — a professional-grade voice model, trained on a sample you record once. Your child wakes up to a morning declaration in your real cadence. They listen to a blessing in your real warmth. The voice of the parent goes with them into the day.

The model is yours; nobody else uses it. You can revoke it at any time. The voice never speaks anything you haven't approved.

The seven tracks

The shape of growing up well.

Every child profile, configured jointly with their parent at onboarding, runs across seven tracks plus a foundation of faith:

Academics

School profile, curriculum-aware tutoring, real grade tracking across terms. Upload a photo of a report card; the Coach reads it and updates the tracker. Course planning, scholarship targets, university entry.

Speaking & Writing

Speech drafts, practice logs, the long arc from a 60-second school assembly speech to a senior valedictory address. Public-speaking is most students' single highest-leverage track and Hesed.love treats it that way.

Citizenship

Service hours logged in real time. In-school and out-of-school commitments. The reflection notes that turn a list of activities into a true application narrative.

Athletics

Training logs, captaincy track, sleep protection, the research-backed argument that sport raises academic ceilings instead of competing with them.

Languages

Heritage languages and learned languages. Vocab, conversation prompts, weekend rhythms with grandparents. The currency of being at home in more than one culture.

Culinary

Recipes, kitchen rhythms, a quiet track most children love and few apps notice. Hospitality is a real adult competency.

Character & Grit

Reflection prompts, virtue check-ins, the unsexy weekly work of becoming someone good. The track most likely to outlast the others.

Faith & Grace (foundation)

Today's Word. Scripture chosen by the parent for the season. Declarations spoken in the parent's voice. Promises. Prayer & meditation. The covenant frame everything else stands on.

Academic module

A coach that knows the school your child actually attends.

At onboarding, parent and child enter the school name and location together. Hesed.love loads the appropriate curriculum — Alberta or Ontario or British Columbia, the US Common Core or a specific state, UK GCSE or A-Level or Scottish Highers, the Australian Curriculum, WAEC for Nigeria and Ghana, the South African CAPS framework, IB Programmes, Cambridge International — and the Coach speaks to your child from inside that real academic context.

Upload a photo of a report card. The Coach reads it with vision, extracts the grades, drops them into a Tracker that the family can watch term over term. Course selection windows trigger a planner. Scholarship targets the parent flagged at onboarding become the lens the Coach uses when it answers "should I take this class?"

Privacy by architecture

We couldn't read your conversations even if we wanted to.

Hesed.love's coaching proxy never stores message content, never stores response content. The server logs timestamps, hashed user IDs, model names, and token counts — the metadata required to bill, nothing more. Your conversations live in your browser or on your device, not in our database.

This isn't a promise. It's the way the code is written. The proxy is open source: read every line at github.com/hesed-love/hesed-api (repo public after Phase 1).

Minors safety

Children are not a feature. They are people we are accountable to.

Hesed.love serves children, with verifiable parental consent. We follow the responsibilities Anthropic asks of organisations serving minors, and we go further than required. Specifically:

Age tiers. Self-managed accounts at 13+. Heavy parental gates for ages 8–12, where every Coach prompt is parent-curated and content filters are stricter. No child accounts below 8 — younger children receive content via audio delivery on devices the parent controls.

Verifiable parental consent. A parent's verified email plus a confirmed payment method is the consent record. The parent enters the magic-link code on the child's first device pairing.

Content safety. The Coach runs on an age-tiered system prompt that hard-blocks categories inappropriate for minors. We use Anthropic's child-safety prompt where they make one available, layered with our own.

Wellbeing flags. The Coach is trained to detect distress, disclosed abuse, severe emotional shifts. When detected, the parent is alerted with a flag category and a guided response prompt — never the raw message text unless the child explicitly shares it. In severe cases, in-app crisis resources are surfaced to the child directly.

Private by default. A child's journal entries and Coach conversations are private to them. Parents see goal progress and wellbeing flags. Parents do not see the contents of their child's coaching conversations.

AI disclosure. Every child onboarding includes age-appropriate language explaining what the Coach is — an AI, not a person, built to help them think. The Coach itself is labelled "Coach" throughout the interface and never personifies itself as a human.

Regulatory compliance. Canadian PIPEDA baseline, UK and EU GDPR, US COPPA for users under 13. See our Privacy Policy and Minors Safety page for the full posture.

Founders

Ayodeji & Lizzy Samuels.

Hesed.love began as a personal app called Charis Coach, built for our older daughter as she walked into her final two years of high school in Calgary, with a real shot at her school's Valedictorian. We wanted her to have a calm, scripture-anchored thinking partner that knew her actual report card, her real teachers, her real ambition — and that spoke to her in her father's voice when she needed it most.

It worked. Friends asked for a version for their own families. Hesed.love is what we built when we said yes — the public cousin of Charis Coach, role-aware, tier-aware, suitable for a parent who isn't Ayodeji and a child who isn't ours. The faith default and the covenant tone are not bolted on. They are why the app exists.

We're based in Calgary. The company is Canadian. The product launches into Phase 1 closed beta with families we know personally, then opens carefully. You're welcome on the journey.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

Is Hesed.love only for Christians?

The product is faith-default Christian — scripture, declarations, covenant tone are woven through. Families of any faith or none can use it; non-Christian families can soften the Faith & Grace foundation in settings. We won't ask you to compromise on what your home believes. But we're not pretending to be religion-neutral, either.

Can my child talk to the AI directly?

Yes, with verifiable parental consent. Children aged 13+ have self-managed accounts with full Coach access. Children aged 8–12 have parent-mediated accounts with stricter content filters. Children under 8 receive content from their parents through Hesed.love but do not have a Coach of their own. The full safety posture is on our Minors Safety page.

Do you read my conversations?

No, and we couldn't if we wanted to. Our proxy server logs only timestamps, hashed user IDs, and token counts — never message bodies or response bodies. Your conversations live in your browser or on your device. The proxy code will be public on GitHub after Phase 1 so you can verify the claim.

How does cancellation work?

Cancel from Settings any time. You keep access through the end of the paid period you've already paid for. No partial-period refunds. You can re-subscribe whenever you like — your account and history wait for you. Full terms on our Refund & Cancellation page.

What countries are you in?

At Phase 1 launch: Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana — meaning we have pre-built curriculum knowledge for those countries' school systems. Hesed.love works elsewhere too; the academic module just leans more on web-fetched curriculum data for now. We'll add deeper coverage as Phase 1 cohorts show us where families are.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

You can export your full account data from Settings before cancelling. After cancellation, your account is paused for 90 days (so you can resubscribe and pick up where you left off), then permanently deleted unless you request immediate deletion in writing.
